TestPros is seeking an experienced Senior Document Accessibility Remediation Specialist with an active IAAP Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) certification to support a potential university-wide digital accessibility remediation program.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience remediating complex digital documents for universities, colleges, government agencies, or similarly complex organizations, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, PDF/UA, Section 508, and ADA Title II accessibility requirements.

This position requires practical document remediation experience, not simply accessibility auditing or compliance consulting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accessibility remediation of PDF, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other digital documents.

  • Remediate scanned and legacy documents using OCR, manual tagging, and structural correction.

  • Create accessible PDF documents, including appropriate headings, tables, reading order, alternative text, bookmarks, and metadata.

  • Remediate complex academic documents, including course materials, research publications, syllabi, student forms, technical reports, and STEM content.

  • Address mathematical equations, MathML, scientific diagrams, charts, engineering drawings, and other complex visual materials.

  • Remediate fillable forms, interactive fields, and electronic signatures.

  • Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, PDF/UA-1 or higher, and applicable Section 508 standards.

  • Conduct manual and automated accessibility checks and correct deficiencies before final delivery.

  • Collaborate with accessibility QA specialists, university stakeholders, and subject-matter experts to validate complex technical content.

  • Maintain remediation documentation, quality records, and production status reports.

  • Support multiple concurrent assignments and varying project turnaround requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Current IAAP Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) certification.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience performing PDF and digital document accessibility remediation.

  • Experience remediating documents for higher education, government, healthcare, or similarly complex organizations.

  • Strong understanding of WCAG 2.1 AA, PDF/UA, Section 508, and accessible document development.

  • Experience remediating scanned documents, tables, forms, complex graphics, and native Microsoft Office files.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and document accessibility remediation/validation tools such as PAC, CommonLook, or equivalent solutions.

  • Experience conducting manual accessibility validation using assistive technologies.

  • Ability to document remediation decisions, maintain production quality, and meet established turnaround requirements.

  • Strong written communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous university or college accessibility remediation experience, especially with Canvas LMS course documents, faculty materials, student-facing forms, research publications, and academic content.

  • Experience supporting institution-wide document remediation programs involving multiple departments.

  • Experience remediating complex STEM content, mathematical equations, scientific graphics, or technical drawings.

  • Experience with high-volume PDF remediation production.

  • Additional DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP CPACC, or WAS certification.

  • Familiarity with FERPA-related data handling and secure document processing.

Information Requested From Applicants

Please provide:

  • Current resume.

  • Verification of active ADS certification.

  • Description of relevant university, higher education, government, or large-scale document remediation projects.

  • Types and approximate volumes of documents previously remediated.

  • Redacted examples of remediated documents or accessibility validation reports, if available.

  • Availability, preferred hourly rate, and U.S. work location.

This is an anticipated project-based opportunity contingent upon contract award.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
