Job Title: Program manager

Location: Remote and Metro Headquarters in Alexandria, VA, with occasional travel to other Metro sites as required.

Position Summary: The Program Manager provides expert advice, assistance, and guidance to support the project, ensuring all requirements are met, managing risks, and maintaining quality control. This role entails determining the strategic approach for the project and taking full responsibility for the work performed. The  Program Manager serves as a senior SME, engaging METRO Executive Leadership in strategic reviews and decision-making, and acting as an advisor and integrator for broad METRO strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Engage METRO Executive Leadership in strategic reviews and decision-making processes.
    • Act as an advisor and integrator for broad METRO strategy.
  • Project Planning and Management:

    • Lead large ERP projects independently, with strong project management and system implementation experience.
    • Provide a structured project plan that integrates with the System Implementor (SI) plans and coordinate activities throughout the planning process.
    • Review SI plans, schedules, efforts, and assumptions of the ERP implementation program, ensuring alignment with leading practices.
    • Establish and oversee program performance and reporting, including the development of all presentations.
    • Establish the IV&V program management, including governance structure, management processes, plans, procedures, tools, etc.
    • Measure and monitor progress to ensure that the IV&V project meets or exceeds performance targets.
  • Stakeholder Management:

    • Manage relationships with SI, PMO, and monitor their progress and adherence to agreed-on scope and deliverables.
    • Manage relationships with Metro Team Leads and monitor their teams’ progress against schedule.
    • Present findings within IV&V to management on a regular cadence.
    • Present risks and risk mitigation recommendations per the established plan.
  • Change Management:

    • In coordination with the SI, PMO, establish processes for managing all changes to the requirements, scope, schedule, or budget through a formally defined scope change process.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in areas outlined in the scope of work.
  • Demonstrated experience with the implementation or IV&V of large-scale cloud-based ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems processes and the business side of implementation, as well as technical aspects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including business users, IT staff, and vendors.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically is essential.
