Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Load and Performance Test Engineer with hands-on expertise using Akamai’s CloudTest platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing performance test scenarios for high-availability applications and APIs in support of enterprise systems. 

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship 

Location: Hybrid (Columbia, MD)

Clearance: Public Trust Clearance 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop load and performance test scenarios using Akamai CloudTest

  • Configure distributed test environments and execute large-scale load tests

  • Simulate real-world traffic patterns to evaluate system performance under stress

  • Monitor application behavior, infrastructure performance, and key metrics during tests

  • Analyze test results and provide actionable recommendations for performance improvements

  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and QA teams to integrate performance testing into SDLC

  • Document test strategies, plans, results, and performance baselines

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with Akamai CloudTest (formerly SOASTA CloudTest)

  • Proven experience in load, stress, and performance testing of web-based applications and APIs

  • Strong understanding of web protocols, RESTful services, and traffic simulation

  • Experience analyzing server and infrastructure metrics (CPU, memory, throughput, response time)

  • Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and support performance tuning

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic)

  • Experience testing in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Knowledge of scripting or programming languages (JavaScript, Python, etc.)
